The Marina del Este sports port, managed by the Marine Group of the Mediterranean, He has taken another step in his commitment to sustainability with the installation of six biomimetic micro reef in the port environment. This performance, made in collaboration with the specialized company Ocean Ecostructures, It is part of a marriage regeneration and renaturalization project that seeks to recover the natural balance of the submerged ecosystem.
The installed structures, denominadas Life Boosting Units (LBUs), Imitate the behavior of a natural reef and are designed to integrate into port infrastructure without interfering with its operation. They attract microfauna, They offer shelter to marine species and contribute to carbon dioxide capture.
The installation of micro reefs, made last May inside the port, has been successfully executed by the company Nodeco Sub, complying with safety regulations in underwater activities. Its location has been carefully selected by the scientific department of the project and validated by the port technical team, To ensure that it does not interfere with your daily operation.
IA monitoring system
The project incorporates a monitoring and monitoring system by rov technology (Submarine drones operated by remote control) and artificial intelligence for data analysis and the identification of species that will allow measuring the real impact in terms of biodiversity, Co₂ capture, Biomass generation and detection of invasive species. Besides, These data can be consulted through the Ocean Ecostructures app, being able to consult the species that inhabit the port or discovering the different results that the structures generate.
